Michel Papami Kameni’s (1935-2020) works explore the first decade of postcolonial Cameroon by portraying its inhabitants with an incredible kindness and passion. These images are more than just a document; they are an intimate study of the relationship between the photographer and the photographer’s subjects, their emotions, dreams and aspirations in times of transition. His work is a fusion among the tradition and modern postcolonial life, and the influences of western films and fashion on the inhabitants of postcolonial Cameroon.
