The concept of the event is based on the understanding that failure is not only an undesirable outcome, but also an interpretive, ethical and political space, in which the limits of participation and power relations are exposed, and sometimes a potential for change is created. In this sense, failure is not a malfunction to be obscured, but a poetic crack, through which it is possible to look anew at curatorial and photographic processes, to examine the relationships of participation, and the ways in which voices are heard – and sometimes also silenced.
