The series follows an adult couple, my father- and mother-in-law, Ezra and Elisheva Ben Yashar. He is 94 years old, and she is 86 years old. All the photographs were taken in their home, located in the Mea Shearim neighborhood in Jerusalem. The couple leads an Jewish Orthodox lifestyle. The photographs follow their daily life and the holidays, depicting preparations for the traditional Sabbath dinner, the lighting of Sabbath candles and Hanukkah candles, the Havdalah ceremony marking the end of the Sabbath, sitting in the Sukkah, Havdalah ceremony in the Sukkah, and the holiday of Purim. The couple’s home authentically demonstrates the objects accumulated over the years, and presents a crowded home. The aging couple lead an independent life, regularly visited by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
