Igor Zeiger | Modern Renaissance

When I first started taking photos, I was driven by a desire to “capture the perfect moment”. I tried to freeze reality, to hang onto things, to make them into perfect memories. Then I realized that my art has to be much more than that, that I don’t want to simply document the moment. Instead I decided to invent the moment and create images that will drive my spectator to question its reality. This was the birth of the project Modern Renaissance, in which I insert real people into worlds created through digital and analog means. I am happiest when a spectator doesn’t ask me about the meaning of my work, but rather finds their own meaning and sees something in the image that differs from what I saw when I created it. Because every picture in this project is a world in and of itself, it is anything but a moment frozen in time
